Art in the Park Sale, a Financial Success
|
Nature and art came together in Walnut Square Park where the Prodice Alliance just threw its tenth annual Art in the Park sale last Sunday. This sale included works such as paintings, photos and crafts all designed or created by the artists of the Prodice Alliance. Despite the torrential} downpour earlier in the week, the weather on Sunday was sunny and warm, and greeted the hundreds of patrons and art lovers. Not only were the people enjoying the art, but they were enjoying the ice cream and other baked goods and treats sold by vendors.
|
Among the favorite items at the sale were earrings, bracelets and necklaces made by Prodice artists.
Just five years ago the Prodice Alliance was facing some difficult financial problems, but thanks to the directorship of Christina Harrison, its fiscal situation has turned around. The Art in the Park sale at Walnut Square Park was Harrison's idea to raise money. The Alliance also throws an Arcisc Gala, which will be held next week at the Grande Belle Hotel.

Centerville Herald
Business Section
Clara Spiro opened the Gray Bell Gallery six years ago with a good understanding of the risks. She had many years of experience in the art business, and she knew that a gallery which represented both the artists and for them to sell their work, would not be profitable at the start. Still, the prolonged economic downturn in the area caught her by surprise.
Spiro was the speaker at last month’s meeting by the Centerville Business Circle where she shared some tips to would-be gallery owners. According to Spiro, the viability of a new gallery heavily depends on its location. “Most art customers visit a variety of galleries before they make a purchase.”, she said, “Therefore, it is essential to open a gallery near existing galleries which are already drawing customers.” “Centerville seemed like a perfect place for us and we negotiated a lower rent.” She also stressed the importance of researching all the start-up costs, including redesigning a building’s interior structure. “Calculation the amount of money you think you will need.”, she noted, “and then double it.”
This was the approach that enabled Gray Bell Gallery to survive three difficult years before success arrived. “Last year, we had the opening of a major ceramics show which we heavily promoted through the media, then the business took off.”, she said. Having achieved local followers, her winning strategy for increasing her clientele is her close work with the customers. “If customers like an artist whose work doesn’t fit their budget, I offer them smaller pieces.”, she shared, “For more expensive pieces, I offer them an installment plan.”

Aidon Kaen ****
I worked as a stock clerk in Fairstone Hardware for 3 years. The experience I gained from this job is overall. The pay is in line with places that I have worked at. The one thing I wish I had known when I applied for Fairstone is that stock clerks often asked to work on weekends. Nevertheless, the pocket money is an unexpected benefit. Also, the promotion opportunity is non-existent. I ended up working for another company's supervisor position. But the proximity from Fairstone warehouse to my house made me have to think twice before making a move.

Indian Cuisine Come To Millerville
23 October,
The Millerville has a change to the authentic taste of Indian food when the India House of Flavour opened its doors on Monday. This restaurant is founded by Raghav Nambiar, who took an early retirement to follow his passion - gourmet.
Born in Chanma, India, Mr. Nambiar came to the United States to study engineering at Central State University. He arrived at Millerville immediately after graduating. He first started his job at Easton Industrial and made his way to senior supervisor after 8 years. That was when he decided to take a new career path. “I have always been fascinated with cooking! As a child, I never missed a chance to watch my mother and grandmother preparing meals. By the time I was 12, they even let me prepare the food.” - said Mr. Nambiar. Later, as a university student and a professional engineer, Mr. Nambiar continued his passion for cooking. He hosted monthly parties at his home for his co-workers and got the encouragement to share his talent to the world. “I have always dreamed of opening my own restaurant!” - said Mr. Nambiar. “But it is always just a dream”. After cooking for a while and getting encouraged by co - workers, he felt that his dream became potential and could come true.
The India House of Flavour has diverse food from various regions of India. From Monday to Friday, the menu will have “Professional Meals for Office people ''. On Saturday, a buffet will be served and on Sunday, the restaurant is open only for private use. To see the menu and pre - order, please go on website Indiahouseofflavour.com.

Hi Raghav,
I have just read the article on Friday’s Paper. Based on the meals I have had for years, I am certain that customers are lining up at your door. I know little about Indian food but I do know when I taste good food. I have missed you. I have already decided the location of our monthly party. I am looking forward to meeting you at your “new office”.
I hope things at your restaurant get a smooth transition.

My friend and I decided to give this restaurant a try and we are glad that we did this. This restaurant is not like anything I have ever tasted. My favourite dish was chicken (matilda masala). Its mixture of sauce with cream brought up just the right heat. Fortunately, we went to a buffet so we have the chance to sample a little bit of everything. The music is delightful. The one thing I found most surprising about this restaurant is the artwork, which are painted by some high school children in town. I recognised some of the names. The price was reasonable for an out meal in Millerville. I highly recommend this restaurant!

Subject: Safety Gear

Dear Group Supervisors,
I am writing to let you know that the safety reimbursement period will begin next month. Last year, more than 80% of the employees in the Engineering and Construction Division were eligible to reimburse safety gears, but only half completed the forms. This was disappointing, as the accountants are concerned that the employees are not applying for the money that they are entitled to. So I encourage all employees to fill out the forms, using myself as an example: I purchased a safety harness two years ago, and bought a rain jacket last year.
The forms are very convenient and easy to fill. Form A is for shoes only. Form B is for other gears. And Form C is for purchases without receipts.
