City to Upgrade Aging Gas Pipes
(September 1) - During the month of October, Nairobi Energy Services, Inc., (NESI) plans to replace two kilometers of cast-iron underground gas pipes with plasticcoated steel pipes as part of its commitment to maintaining the city's energy infrastructure.
"The increase in pressure provided by the new pipes will better support today's high-efficiency furnaces, water heaters, clothes dryers, and other gas appliances," said Ms. Esther Cheptumo, the gas company's vice president. "The new system

Some streets in Nairobi will be closed to traffic between 9:00 A.M. and 4:00 P.M. while pipes are replaced.
